It's difficult to believe that 2007 is nearly at an end. Less than 2 months and it's 2008. Another year in my life gone and not a lot to show for it, except a bit less debt, fewer friends and relatives, my home needing more repair, and my creativity and energy nearly sucked dry.

It's so encouraging (not) that the government's (US) system is set up to reward married couples and punish singles for being single.

It sucks that I can't be with a special someone.

I know money and wealth doesn't bring happiness, but it sure helps some people achieve it and not having it can keep people down until they no longer believe they'll ever find happiness, even with effort and encouragement. They come to believe only in unhappiness and that they are the only ones who suffer in such ways.

A convo in one of my fav animes (Twelve Kingdoms), paraphrased, is this: Life is half happiness and half hardship. No one is blessed with happiness. It must be achieved with effort.

How true that is. However, for a person to have happiness, they must want it and look for it and make the effort to be happy. Everyone in the world could try to make a person happy, but if they don't want to be, it's to no avail.

I want to be happy and, to do that, I have to do something about it; look for good things, do good things for me, have respect for myself and self-esteem and remember my dreams, hopes and goals. We're only allotted so much time in life. I don't want to regret not doing things, so I'm going to do them... soon as I can.
